Gwen and Rachelle are two sisters from the U.S.A. Together they have pulled off a great surprise for Rachelle’s unsuspecting fiancé, John, who knows nothing about the cake topper he’s going to be seeing ‘crowning’ their wedding cake.

I don’t have any photos of Gwen who ordered the cake topper for her sister, but I do have some great ones of Rachelle and John:

As you can see they enjoy the great outdoors. The next photo was taken near Maui, Hawaii:

These great shots were taken in Yosemite National Park …

John’s passion is windsurfing.

Jill, Matt and Lola

Hi there!

Once in a while I get the chance to write my posts in English thanks to overseas requests for cake toppers. The request for today’s featured cake topper came all the way from the USA.

Jill contacted me last year for her May 2010 wedding.

This is Jill:

… and this is the cutest little doggy I’ve ever seen:

Her name is Lola:

Jill tells me that Matt is a high school band teacher and that music plays an important part in both their lives, so her idea was to have Lola cheekily ‘stealing’ sheet music from Matt’s jacket pocket.

This is what Matt will be wearing on their wedding day … It will be a morning garden wedding … now, how pretty does that sound?!!

Now, one last look at Jill, Matt and Lola before I show you how I made them …

Vandaag, probeer ik om een post in het Nederlands te schrijven. Wow … Dat lijkt me héél moejelijk!

Ik heb in Holland 4 jaar gewoond (tussen 1990 en 1994) … précis in het Bollenstreek in het Zuid Holland in het stadje, Noordwijkerhout. Ik weet deze mooie taal nog een beetje … maar, een héél klein beetje hoor! Ik ben al moe!

Lisa-Lori en haar moeder hebben wat fotos meegestuuren om inspiratie voor en cake topper voor de aankomend trouwe van Lisa-Lori en haar verloofd (Niels) te hebben.

Laetitia’s big surprise gift!

Today’s post is all about a couple in South Africa … Phillip and Desirée. Desirèe doesn’t know it yet but in a few days’ time she’ll be on ‘cloud nine’ when she receives her www.marymade.it cake topper all the way from Italy, thanks to Laetitia (Phillip’s thoughful aunt).

Laetitia contacted me last year … and that’s when the ‘ball started rolling’ in preparation for the day I would prepare their cake topper. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes on before I actually sit down and start working on a cake topper … and in the end, a nice rapport develops between the client and me. That’s exactly what happened with Laetitia.

Here are two lovely photos of the future bride and groom, that Laetitia sent me:

Now for some technical stuff …

This is the fabric that Desirée’s dress will be made out of … (it’s the black side … with a layer of red showing through from beneath):

… and now for a touch of genious … Desirée has opted for a black spanish lace fan instead of a bridal bouquet …

Now let’s move onto the groom’s details: This is the suit he has chosen for himself … (very elegant!)

This is how I put it all together … I really like it and Laetitia, who got a sneak preview yesterday, LOVES it. I posted it out today and within 4-6 days it will have a new home!

(A big happy birthday wish to Laetitia’s husband, Wilhelm, who’ll be celebrating his ’12th’ birthday on the 29th of February … With this year not being a leap year, birthday celebrations will be held on February 28th) …

This order has come to me all the way from the USA.

I’m dedicating today’s post to Karri and Rick who are both pilots. So what better cake topper would there be than a custom-made cake topper … let’s see what Karri came up with for me to make for them to depict them both and their passion for flying …

Playing the Game

Remember this cake topper I blogged about not long ago? The groom is a dance instructor so when his now, wife ordered their cake topper, she asked for me to make the caricature of the groom take on John Travolta’s famous ‘Saturday Night Fever’ stance … just like this …

Take a look at the way the real groom posed for for their photo!! So funny! … and look at Donatella, the bride, looking like her look alike on the cake.

So cute! 10 out of 10 for the idea!
