E qui … il loro cake topper. Però dovete immaginare Andrea senza baffo … con solo la ‘moschetta’ sotto il labbro: ce l’avevo messo … ma poi Elisa mi ha chiesto di toglierlo … (anche i pupazzetti si fanno la barba!)

Once in a while I get the chance to write my posts in English thanks to overseas requests for cake toppers. The request for today’s featured cake topper came all the way from the USA.

Jill contacted me last year for her May 2010 wedding.

This is Jill:

… and this is the cutest little doggy I’ve ever seen:

Her name is Lola:

Jill tells me that Matt is a high school band teacher and that music plays an important part in both their lives, so her idea was to have Lola cheekily ’stealing’ sheet music from Matt’s jacket pocket.

This is what Matt will be wearing on their wedding day … It will be a morning garden wedding … now, how pretty does that sound?!!

Now, one last look at Jill, Matt and Lola before I show you how I made them …

Won’t everyone be so surprised to see this unique cake topper on their wedding cake? … mini Matt, mini Jill and mini Lola … (Lola is even more ‘mini’ than she already is!)

Ik heb in Holland 4 jaar gewoond (tussen 1990 en 1994) … précis in het Bollenstreek in het Zuid Holland in het stadje, Noordwijkerhout. Ik weet deze mooie taal nog een beetje … maar, een héél klein beetje hoor! Ik ben al moe! 

Lisa-Lori en haar moeder hebben wat fotos meegestuuren om inspiratie voor en cake topper voor de aankomend trouwe van Lisa-Lori en haar verloofd (Niels) te hebben.

Sorrido ogni volta che la guardo. Siamo io e mio cugino …  (avevamo circa 3 anni) ad un matrimonio in Australia. La mamma di Michael, Zia Pia, ci faceva ballare sempre … cosa che facevamo con piacere e tante risate.

Il mio completino era rosso con 3 paperelle bianche che camminavano in fila indiana. Invece i pantaloncini e la cravatta a farfalla di Michael erano color ‘carta di zucchero’. Come è possibile ricordarsi particolari del genere di tantissimi anni fa?

Un’altro particolare che mi ricordo è la torta nuziale degli sposi … sopra c’era un ‘cake topper’ di plastica …

… i tempi sono cambiati!

Laetitia contacted me last year …  and that’s when the ‘ball started rolling’ in preparation for the day I would prepare their cake topper. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes on before I actually sit down and start working on a cake topper … and in the end, a nice rapport develops between the client and me. That’s exactly what happened with Laetitia.

This is how I put it all together … I really like it and Laetitia, who got a sneak preview yesterday, LOVES it. I posted it out today and within 4-6 days it will have a new home!

(A big happy birthday wish to Laetitia’s husband, Wilhelm, who’ll be celebrating his ‘12th’ birthday on the 29th of February … With this year not being a leap year, birthday celebrations will be held on February 28th) …
